Chi-Care Chicago cares!

Chi-Care, a registered 501(c)(3), was founded in March of 2020 with the goal of helping those who are most often overlooked and in the most need. During the unprecedented times that came with the onset of COVID-19, the founder of Chi-Care wanted to create opportunities for our unhoused populations to get warm food and clean water, without having to travel to get their most basic needs met.

Chi-Care sought out where homeless encampments were in the Chicagoland area and began working with local restaurants and other partners to provide hot meals and survival items for our unhoused neighbors.

At Chi-Care we are dedicated to expanding our services to reach as many people in need as possible. We’re continually adding to our fleet of trucks to deliver more food, more days per week, and with greater ease for both our volunteers and for those we serve.

Our goal is to help end hunger across Chicagoland.

Recently, I met some of the people involved and learned more about the organization and what they do. Our good friend , Sarah Stegner from Prairie Grass Restaurant in Northbrook, brought us together at Mariano’s in Skokie. Sarah, along with this organization, Mariano’s and a lot of wonderful chefs, have created “The Chicago Chef’s Cookbook”, an amazing array of wonderful recipes. I met chefs from Soul & Smoke, Nakorn and many more. The cookbook is wonderful an dis only $9.95 ( available at all Marian’s locations.
