[rating=3] If you are feeling down about the choices you have made in life, reading Penny Fisher’s “Aftershock” may be the pick you up needed. This is an easy read book that tells her story. Penny is a smart and beautiful young lady with everything going for her, but one by one, due to choices she makes, her life becomes more complicated.
Along the way, you find that some of the choices she makes can only backfire in the long run, and in fact there are times when you either feel sorry for her or think she needs to think about those choices. Her first marriage ends in divorce and she marries a second time in order to have children and to make her second husband a “complete man” for his family.
The story itself changes for the better ( as far ast stories go) when while on vacation she becomes ill. It is as she calls it her “journey through heaven and hell”. She gets a virus that puts her in a coma for months, and one where she ends up almost at death’s door. She loses a leg, a foot, fingers and somehow, still has the will to survive for her children.
The book is well written and easy to read ( one or two sits should do it) as she pulls you into her story. One tends to see this as her own personal “soap opera” where we wait to see what comes nest? How does this woman who is knocked down time after time, continue to pop back up and fight for her life?
This is a story of survival in life and the motivational forces that allow one to do so. Her story explains the ups and downs of her life and the love that her friends and children bring to the table. This love, in my opinion , is the spark that gave her the energy to overcome all that was thrown at her. The book is published by Wido Publishing ISBN 978-I-947966-62-8 and is available in print and electronically-
FYI- there are a great number of books that are titled “Aftershock”, so please make sure you order the proper one. Her cover quote is “Reinventing myself One Piece at a Time”! that pretty much tells her story- Even though you know she makes some bad choices, you will find yourself rooting for her to be triumphant in the end. “Nuff said”!
