2023 Tony Awards- Nominations

British shows have triumphed in this year’s Tony Award nominations – with & Juliet receiving nine nods.

The musical was the second most–nominated of all shows – recognised in categories including best musical and best choreography.

Other shows from the UK to be recognised included Leopoldstadt – which picked up six nominations – while Prima Facie received four nominations – including Jodie Comer for best performance by an actress in a leading role in a play. Jamie Lloyd’s A Doll’s House had six nods.

Life of Pi – which began life at Sheffield’s Crucible Theatre – had five nominations – and sound designers Ben and Max Ringham received two nominations in the best sound design of a play category for A Doll’s House and Prima Facie.

The most–nominated production overall was musical Some Like It Hot – with 13 nods.

The Tony Awards nominations were hosted by Lea Michele and Myles Frost and announced live from the Sofitel New York via YouTube.
