*****Seeing Goodnight Moon brought to life at Chicago Children’s Theatre was a truly special experience for me and Jack (age 4). The play transforms the pages of the book into a fully immersive experience, with the set designed as the Great Green Room. In every corner, there were details pulled straight from the pages of Goodnight Moon. For Jack, this became part of the entertainment, and he was delighted each time he spotted something he recognized. What made the show feel especially lively were the added storylines woven throughout the play. The cows jumping over the moon and the three little bears sitting in chairs weren’t just mentioned as items, they were brought to life in such an engaging way. The cast handled multiple roles seamlessly, bringing energy and charm to every character they transformed into.

Because Goodnight Moon is such a beloved part of our bedtime routine, it was incredibly fun to see it in action with the immersive experience. Every time I glanced at Jack, he was mesmerized by what was he was seeing. He especially loved the interactions between the bunny and the mouse. He’s been excitedly retelling parts of the play to his sister and is already looking forward to reading the book again tonight.
The audience included many very young children, and the production held their attention throughout. It’s not always easy to captivate that age group, but this show does it! This is a perfect play for families with children 5 and under.
-GOODNIGHT MOON runs an estimated 65 minutes, with no intermission.
