“Casati’s revisited

[rating=5] Tonight, Jane and I were able to do Black Ensemble Theater’s new play, so since we were heading into the city, thought it would be great to revisit Casati’s Modern Italian in Lincoln Park. Every time we visit we try new items and even sit in a different dining area. Tonight it was the main dining room that is cozy and very Italian ( perfect for a modern Italian restaurant). They have a new executive chef, so new food items and we were able to mix and match with the old.

We began our evening with cocktails. I had my Vodka Martini straight up with the rocks on the side and Jane had a glass of  Barone di valforte red wine. Our server, Ron was in fact the same server we had last time when we sat out in the patio area. Ron is pretty knowledgeable about the menu and when we ordered our pasta entree’s made sure that they could handle our request as Friday night they had run out of some of the ingredients needed- luck us! They replenished for the Saturday crowd.

We started our dinner with  the Polpette ( four meatballs) that were delicious. We ordered a bread and herbs plate so we could dip in the sauce making the start of the dinner even better.

Our entree’s were both pastas- Jane had the Scott’s Cappellacci ( wonderful lobster sauce with small lobster pieces and very tiny shrimp. To die for! and I loved the Clam Linguine. A perfect sauce and some of the juiciest clams ever. The noodles were also perfect and we both had a bit of the others, not wanting to give up any of ours but knowing we had to.

As always, the staff here is divine and makes sure that everyone is pleased. They knew that we had to drive up to Wilson and Clark and with all of the Halloween people out, traffic might be a bit rough, so they made sure we were able to get a move on. The service and the food have been perfect each and every time we have been to Casati’s and somehow, when dining there I almost feel as if I am home, with friends and family.

Casati’s is located at  444 West Fullerton (at Clark Street) in Lincoln Park. The phone is 773-857-1237 and to view their menu online, visit www.cpvino.com
