“Hamilton” Tickets

Tuesday, the 21st has come and gone, bringing a lot of busy computers and telephone lines as Chicago theater lovers (and probably a lot of ticket brokers) attempted to obtain their opportunity to see the Tony Award winning “Hamilton” opening  at The Privatebank Theatre (the former Shubert, LaSalle and BankofAmerica Theatre) on September 27th. Chicago was a buzz with television and radio coverage as well as newspaper and internet, watching the lines around the block of the theater located at 18 West Monroe. The excitement that this show brings is not just for this show, but for “live” theater period.

The tickets, more than likely sold well, but I am sure not sold out completely and as we say years ago when “Wicked” came to town, Broadway In Chicago knows how to market their shows and theaters, so once the reviews come out, I have a feeling the desire for tickets will grow even stronger, causing them to keep extending the production. The tickets range in price from $65-$180. Yes, there are already higher price tickets on-line, BUT, Broadway In Chicago asks you to be careful on making any of these ticket purchases. “Hamilton” is the story of America’s founding father, Alexander Hamilton, an immigrant from the West Indies who became George Washington’s right-hand man during the Revolutionary War and was the nation’s first Treasury Secretary. Featuring a score (written by Lin-Manuel Miranda) that blends hip-hop, jazz, blues, rap, R & B, and Broadway, this is a great way to learn our country’s  history.

Again, I urge you to be careful when it comes to buying tickets. Best to know that when you go down for an evening of great entertainment, you will have your seat in the theater. SPECIAL NOTE: Every day, there will be a “day of show” drawing for 44 (forty-four) $10 seats. These are in the first two rows and boxes of the theater, for the most part) I recall they had this program during “RENT”, with a limit of two tickets per person and once you were called, you went in to the theater.
