As “Black Friday” approached following the new “Black Wednesday” when bars are full of college students coming home for Thanksgiving. we need to turn our thoughts to having fun with the family. Why stand in line at the mall or run from store to store seeking the Holiday bargains? This weekend, Thanksgiving, is supposed to be a warm and fuzzy time to be with family and friends, so why not spend your time with a warm and fuzzy ogre named Shrek as Dreamworks heatricals announce the Thanksgiving arrival of “Shrek the Musical” at The Rosemont Theatre for six performances only!
“Shrek the Musical” features a book by David Lindsay-Abaire ( who also wrote the lyrics) and music by Jeanine Tesori. These are award winning writers and thsi production is directed by Stephen Sposito, direct from Broadway’s revival of “How To Succeed in Business Without Really Trying”. The lavish sets and costumes are recreations of the originals, but made to travel. This musical is based on the Dreamwork’s animated version but is now LIVE, adding a new dimension for parents and kids alike.
Don’t know the story? Have you been living in a swamp?. Shrek is a green, swamp dwelling ogre who has been placed in the forest and meets many other so called “misfits” who travel with him on his journey to regain his land. Joined by a wise cracking donkey and other misfits, Shrek goes on a challenging, daring road that proves that friendship and love don’t only happen to those who are beautiful and that beauty is what we feel as well as see ( within the person, or in this case ogre).
